Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How does the process work?

It starts with a free consultation where we learn about your business and the problem you're trying to solve. From there, we put together a proposal with scope, timeline, and pricing. Once approved, we build in short sprints — you'll see working software within the first week or two, not months down the road.

Do I need to know anything about technology?

Not at all. Our job is to translate your business needs into working software. You tell us what's slowing you down or what you wish existed — we handle the technical side. We explain everything in plain English, no jargon.

What size businesses do you work with?

Primarily small to mid-sized businesses, typically 1–50 employees. We also work with nonprofits and startups. If you're big enough to have a problem that software can solve but small enough that you don't have an in-house dev team, we're a great fit.

Pricing & Budget

How much does custom software cost?

Most of our projects fall in the $2,000–$15,000 range. A simple internal tool or automation might be $2,000–$5,000. A full web application with user accounts, dashboards, and integrations is typically $8,000–$15,000. We always provide a fixed-price quote upfront — no surprises.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. For larger projects, we typically split payments into milestones — for example, 30% upfront, 40% at mid-point, and 30% on delivery. We're flexible and happy to find an arrangement that works for your cash flow.

Is there a monthly fee after the project is done?

The software you pay for is yours. There's no required monthly fee. However, we do offer optional maintenance plans starting at $200/month that cover hosting, updates, bug fixes, and minor feature additions. Most clients find this worthwhile for peace of mind.

Timeline & Process

How long does a typical project take?

Most projects take 2–6 weeks from kickoff to launch. Simple automations or internal tools can be done in under two weeks. Larger applications with multiple features take 4–6 weeks. We've built production-ready systems in as little as 10 days.

Will I be involved during development?

Yes, but we respect your time. You'll get weekly updates with screenshots or a live preview link. We'll ask for your feedback at key checkpoints — usually 2 or 3 times during a project. You won't need to attend daily standups or learn project management tools.

What if I need changes after launch?

We include a 30-day post-launch support window for bug fixes and minor adjustments at no extra cost. After that, changes can be handled through our maintenance plan or on a per-project basis. We build software that's easy to update, so changes are usually quick and affordable.

Technical

What technologies do you use?

We primarily build with Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, and Tailwind CSS — a modern, fast, and reliable stack used by companies like Netflix, Uber, and Notion. We choose tools based on what's best for your project, not what's trendy.

Will I own the code?

Yes, 100%. Once the project is paid for, you own all the code, designs, and assets. We'll hand over the full source code and documentation. You're never locked in to us.

Can you work with our existing systems?

Absolutely. Integration is one of our specialties. Whether you're using QuickBooks, Shopify, Google Workspace, a legacy database, or even spreadsheets — we can connect your new software to what you already use.

Do you build mobile apps?

We build web applications that work beautifully on mobile devices. For most small businesses, a responsive web app is more practical and cost-effective than a native iOS/Android app. If you specifically need an app store presence, we can discuss options.

Support & Maintenance

What happens if something breaks?

During the 30-day post-launch window, we fix bugs at no charge. On a maintenance plan, we typically respond within a few hours for critical issues. Even without a plan, we're always available — we don't disappear after delivery.

Do you provide training?

Yes. Every project includes a walkthrough session where we show your team how to use the software. We also provide written documentation. Our goal is for you to be fully self-sufficient, though we're always a phone call away.

Can we hire you for ongoing work?

Definitely. Many of our clients start with one project and then bring us on for ongoing development, new features, or entirely new projects. We offer monthly retainers for clients who need consistent development support.
